Summary: no way to undock safely!
           Product: kde
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs kde org
        ReportedBy: tetreault.sylvain gmail com

Version: (using KDE 3.5.9)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I have a lenovo X41 laptop. Like every early X series laptop, there is no cd/dvd drive in the laptop itself. Most owner of this kind of machine bought the dock station. Under windows, I can undock safely while the laptop is working because there is a driver for it.

Under linux, the fastest safest way I found is to standby the computer and then undock the computer. Everytime, it wake-up the machine. But for few weeks, I plugged a mouse in the dock. Now, when I undock, even if the machine wake-up, I can't unlock the machine because I need the disconnected mouse to do it. End of story, I should close then reboot my machine while undocking.

To dock the machine, it still work ok if the machine is in standby mode because the wake-up update the hardware.

I know, we are not a lot having a dock station but I don't think it is so difficult to adapt...
