Summary: kdeglobals is not written until changes are made in
systemsettings
Product: kde
Version: unspecified
Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs kde org
ReportedBy: guitarist198 yahoo com
Version: 4.0.73 >= 20080507 "release 1.6" (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux
Distro: openSUSE 10.3, KDE 4.0.73 >= 20080507 "release 1.6" (VirtualBox 1.6.0)
I stumbled upon this while writing a script which looked at kdeglobals to determine the user's current icon theme. With kde3, even a fresh install has all the information in the kdeglobals variable from the start.
With the kde snapshot mentioned above, the kdeglobals file only contained this:
"[$Version]
update_info=kaccel.upd:kde3.3/r1"
The file is only updated with all of the useful information after one makes changes in the systemsettings. For example, I changed the icon theme and then the kdeglobals file was written with all the information needed.
