Summary: kwin fails on boot
Product: kde
Version: unspecified
Platform: SuSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: crash
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs kde org
ReportedBy: max.greenblatt gmail com
Version: (using KDE 4.0.98)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux
When I boot my Asus R1F laptop, running opensuse 11 w/ KDE4 RC1, kwin, kdesktop, and kicker all fail to start. I can start kdesktop manually (because ALT-F2 still opens the run dialog). When I start kicker it only has the home icon and it appears to be a kde3 kicker (I also have opensuse 10.3 w/ KDE 3.5 installed on this laptop as well if that could be causing this. Then for kwin it might not be crashing, but I think it is. My windows still have a window manager, but when I try to restart kwin in konsole I get a sigsev (i forget the code #, but I can get you that if you need it). Other than the above problems the laptop appears to run fine though. I have internet and can start any program I want from the run dialog, so it's more of an annoyance than anything else. Thanks in advance for your help!
