Still broken in revision 778673 (24 Feb 2008)

This is currently keeping me from using KDE4. It will also stop enterprise users.

Also: May I suggest that KDE should honour the http_proxy, ftp_proxy, https_proxy etc environment variables by default. I know that most other desktop software is broken in this respect, but almost all command-line programs honour these variables.
