I absolutely agree. The navigation in systemsettings is a real regression
compared to kcontrol.
For kids who cannot read it might be an improvement when they can orientate
themselves by such big icons. But for people who can read it's only a visual
overhead and it's not the most efficient way to find one category in a grid of
17 categories by searching for the description below the icons. IMO the
navigation of kcontrol was already perfect (except some category
classifications).
BTW I would also prefer a tree in KStart instead of the KDE4 version of KStart.
These new navigation structures are the reason why I'm still not using KDE4.
