[Uml-user] installation issue on Ubuntu

I had the installed package and it was crushing all the time. So i thought
it might be better to the compile the source.

At  the same time the version of ubuntu i am runnung is kind of old (8.10).
the repository seems not to be valid any more. Any other options?
