[Uml-user] Umbrello installation failure on RedHat9

Hi Folks,

Ran into a problem installing from umbrello-1.2.92.tar.bz2 on RedHat9.
I followed the installation instructions, but still didn't seem to
help. I browsed the mailing list logs, and saw others had similar
problems, but I didn't happen to spot the solution.

Note: The install from umbrello-1.1.1-rh80.i386.rpm works great, but
lacks many of the nifty features (such as Perl code generation) that
exist in 1.2.

I am trying to install to a custom location (~/Tools/umbrello).
The configure step works great:
  ./configure --prefix=$HOME/Tools/umbrello > & configure.log
However, make complains about missing method "path" in package
"Request".
  make >& make.log

I've attached the logs (from above) if it helps.

I did double-check, I and do believe I have the prerequisite software:
  >rpm -q qt qt-devel kdebase kdebaseutils
  qt-3.1.1-6
  qt-devel-3.1.1-6
  kdebase-3.1-15
  package kdebaseutils is not installed

I also checked to be sure the "admin/acinclude.m4.in" was modified per
the FAQ, but turns out it was already configured that way (in the above
package), yet the build still fails.

I also tried installing as root without using "--prefix" (to install to
/usr/local/bin) but the build still fails in the same way.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Gary.

Warning: you chose to install this package in /afs/cs.cmu.edu/user/ackleygc/Tools/umbrello,
but KDE was found in /usr.
For this to work, you will need to tell KDE about the new prefix, by ensuring
that KDEDIRS contains it, e.g. export KDEDIRS=/afs/cs.cmu.edu/user/ackleygc/Tools/umbrello:/usr
Then restart KDE.

Good - your configure finished. Start make now
