The last stable version is 1.0.3, (http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/uml)

I only know about version 1.0.3 or cvs version.

For version 1.0.3 the code you are looking for is in line 335 of umldoc.cpp. 
To change this behavior you will have to make several changes in different 
files, because there are some object find routines that rely in the fact that 
no two UMLObjects of the same type (classes, use cases, messages, actors, 
operations, attributes, parameters) have the same name.

This is going to be change in the next release as I already have it in my 
personal TODO.
