I tried that with the 32bit and 64bit portable package of umbrello for Windows,
but cannot find any behavior difference between docked and undocked tree view. 
The only case seeing a 'no'  sign is if I try to move the artifact to a folder
not below the component view and also in this case there is no difference
between docked and undocked tree view. 
Did I miss something ?
