"Bad" is perhaps a strong word because technically it gets the job done the way
it's coded right now.
However,
1) There can never be two popups open at the same time
2) In case of multiple selection it is not clear which widget owns the popup
(multiple owners?)
IMHO the menu could be a singleton existing outside the participating
widget(s).
