Thanks for the info.
It prompted me to check what's been happening with kdoctools, and I found this:

I hadn't noticed this because I'm still on KDE 4.4.4 but it seems the change
was introduced in 4.5.
I believe
/trunk/KDE/kdesdk/umbrello/umbrello/docgenerators/docbookgeneratorjob.cpp will
need adjustment.
