I'm using Qt version 3.3.0. But hey, the default arrow is visible.  I think 
that's the file arrow.png . 

But do you have also the following bug? There might be a relation.

1) New Collaboration diagram. 
2) Place two Object-s on the canvas.
3) Click on the Message button.
4) Click on the first Object.
5) Press on the second Object. 
6) Release mousebutton. CRASH.
