I think the reason we can't reproduce this is the following commit
on cvs HEAD of a few days ago (newer than 3.3.0)

CVS commit by okellogg:

Those deleteLater calls were the cause of many a crash in umbrello.
There still are memory management issues to be resolved but at least
we don't crash right now.
