Hi Jonathan..

Sorry to delay answer.. 
Looks like Coolo was working at system that drops all Makefile-isms, and they 
can now recognize meny types os files, like flex, directly in Makefile.am 
sources. So in kbabel they changed the file.c: flex -+ file.ll to a simple 
entry in source list as file.ll, and the automake/autoconf do the job at 
Makefile.cvs
