thanks for the feedback. very, informative. screenshots for kpainter look 
good!

i think that karbons rendering/editing framework is probably going to be the 
right direction. it looks like it probably has everything we need. hmm... 
that might make diagram editing a specialization of vector drawing - time to 
rethink some stuff.
