While trying to fetch the latest stuff from CVS I noticed another 'feature' 
you guys 'implemented'. It's causing conflicts all over the place: you keep 
the Makefile.in files under version control. Since they are autogenerated by 
automake/configure, there's no need to keep them in the repository. Check
