Importing Images

Hi,

In my unsuccessful attempts to import CSV files, I managed to get everything working except the images. I noticed that Tellico takes the image file, compresses it, and saves it under a different name, which seems to work correctly. However, the image field keeps the original image filename and does not update it to the new compressed filename.

The help file does not explain how to import images, so I tried both using the absolute path and using only the filename after first copying the images into the Tellico collection folder. In both cases, the CPU became active, so I believe the process was doing something, but I still had no luck getting the images to appear in the entries.

Hi Robby,

Yes I did make that same change. I have tried numerous options with both the XML and csv files. For testing I have copied the Collectorz images folder to the desktop of my test laptop and I cahnged the paths in the XML and csv to /home/glen/Desktop/Images/ instead of the original windows path. I have not been able to get images to import.

I also had trouble getting some values in some of the fields imported. I have some titles where the medium isn't DVD but is XviD. I noticed the field had a list of acceptable values so I added XviD to the list and the csv accepted that but the XML did not. I think I will need to do some customisation to Tellco fields before I import the full database.

Thanks for your help with this.

Glen

Is it possible for the import
process to bring across images from Collectorz. The Collectorz exports,
both csv and XML, contain the paths to the images.

Both the Collectorz and CSV importers try to find and import associated image links. Can you confirm which version of Tellico you're using?

If you'd like to send me the CSV or XML files (or excerpts) directly, I can try to figure out what may be going on to cause an issue.
Thanks for sending me the CSV and XML extracts. The Collectorz import had a bug with absolute image paths that I've now fixed for next release. The CSV importer should have worked though - did you make the same image location replacement in the CSV as you did for the XML? It didn't seem like it in the file you attached.
