All-

I'm new to Tellico and looking for advice and I guess wisdom from experienced users, to make sure I don't make a bunch of rookie mistakes and have to redo a lot of my early inventory work. I'm starting with Tellico 4.3, currently on Windows.

My primary interest at the start is "physical media", i.e. DVDs, Blu-rays, and especially UltraHD Blu-rays (UHD, aka "4K"). If things go well I may eventually use Tellico for my CDs and books, but my focus at the start is mainly tracking and organizing my "4K" collection. I have some media in prior formats, but my collecting really started with UHD/4K.

I have read the Tellico docs and looked through the last two years of tellico-users archives and I didn't see any of these questions covered. My apologies if I missed any answers to my questions.

One of my big questions at the start is whether I should have separate collections for each media format or try keep them all in one video collection. There are a number of things about other media formats that don't apply to UHD releases, and more importantly there are a number of things about UHD releases that wouldn't apply to any previous physical format. Keeping them in the same collection seems like it would be limiting for the newer format. How are other multi-format collectors handling this?

Other questions I have for current physical media collectors:

How do you handle "complete collections" and multi-disc releases? For example, "Andor: Season 1" is 3 discs, but "Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection" is upwards of 30. Do you do anything to track or inventory individual discs?

Similarly, UHD movie releases often come with a copy of the release on regular blu-ray too, and/or a digital code for streaming the release. Do you do anything to track either of these "add-ons"?

What about extras / special features? This applies to other formats too, but do you do anything to track what extras (interviews, making of, voice over commentary, etc) are included with a release?

I appreciate anyone that's willing to share any insight they have on these questions, and I specially appreciate Robby for making Tellico and sharing it. I spent a lot of time looking for a good self-hosted media library application and I was very happy to find Tellico.

Thanks,

Tim
