A very good question and a desire that others have also expressed. Some

There's a wishlist item to hide some tabs or fields in the editor:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417300

The entry templates should hide the seond tracks field if it is empty. It's
the edit dialog you're asking about, correct? I've played a little with how
it might be implemented. The tricky bit is how to expose in the itnerface
for the user to toggle a hidden tab/field.
