Hang using UPC

Thanks for getting back to me, and sorry for the delay, i've been
(physically) cataloging the CD'S on and off as time permits and would
like to continue digital part of this cataloging.
Webcam: Sorry about this and silly me, I see the General Options (I was
looking in MusicBrainz). "Enable Webcam for barcode scanning". I have
unchecked it and it seems to work perfect now.
Yes, it happens no matter the UPC value, as the window comes up
immediately on the background (and modally?! on the top right of the
screen) as blank when I open Internet Search and select "UPC". However,
I can search the internet via UPC using keyboard. The search happens OK
and the information comes up where I can select it and add to database.
The moment I click on "OK" in the search window or attempt to close the
search window, the entire app freezes and I loose all the UPCs entered
and searched (basically the tc database was unable to be saved).
I have to kill the whole app (killall or kill -9). Again, I don't have a
webcam, so it doesn't matter and I can leave this option off. My scanner
is a keyboard emulator that can do multiple 1d/2d barcode formats and
just speed type output as if it was an extra keyboard into whatever has
the keyboard focus.
Note, the only hint that I had that it may have been that webcam
feature, was when I was attempting to compile the latest version and saw
that it required v4l2, which I thought was strange. Debugging showed
that whatever was compiled in by my vendor is not compatible with
whatever v4l2 library is installed.
Thanks,
Emilio
