id3v2 genre tagging with numbers

I realize I'm tooting my own horn, but it has been a month without a
response. If I'm missing a previous thread on the subject, I'm just not
finding it.

So is there a reason not to just tag with the actual string rather than
the id3v1.1 genre number? Currently I'm manually resetting TCON with
id3v2, and it doesn't feel so clean.
