Most likely you are using RKWard with R 2.9.0, and unfortunately that does not
work at all with RKWard 0.4.9a. So you basically have the choice between downgrading
R (to R 2.7.0, if you want everything to work, properly), or installing RKWard
0.4.9b (or 0.5.0d, if KDE 4 is an option).

I don't know, if and when Detlef Steuer (or somebody else) will be providing
updated packages for OpenSuse. We have reworked our instructions on
compiling/installing RKWard form source, and probably your best bet is to give
that a try. The hardest part really is to find/install the packages that are
needed to make building work, the steps after that should be no problem:
