The filesystem browser tab does use a standard KDE widget, and therefore it
also supports the KDE kioslaves. For instance, you can simply type
  svn+http://rkward.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/rkward/trunk/rkward/
into the location-bar of the browser. Unfortunately, kio_svn only supports read
access, but no commits.

Note that this does not work in places where the R processor is involved, as
that does not know how to use kioslaves.

Also, you're probably looking for some more elaborate support esp. also for
committing files. That is not currently possible, and I don't see a way to implement
this with reasonable effort. Since this isn't a terribly common use case, I
probably won't look into this any further, in the foreseeable future. But if
you want to give it a try yourself, or you want to convince us otherwise, contact
