sorry, i don't have a solution per say. i remember having tried it a long time
back and not succeeding :((  but isn't 0.4.9a (0.4.9-2??) already in kubuntu

If you are looking for some other version, take a look at the pool:

i think the perennial problem is the highlighting stylesheet conflict with kate-part.
kate includes one, but rkward tries to replace it with its own (which is the
always at least as new as the kate-part version).
