List of open documents tab as the "Documents" tab in kate would be very helpful to navigate
when many scripts are opened.

This is not what you're asking for, but may be of interest as an interim
solution: The development version now supports switching between windows
using Ctrl+(Shift)+Tab. This brings up a popup showing a list of the most
recently used windows.
