hm, so far no luck with el capitan. i'm stuck in a loop of dialogs saying i 
can't run the app because it is of unknown origin. neither chosing "run 
anyway" nor allowing apps from anywhere to run made a difference. after the 
dialog, simply nothing happens.

i will also try high sierra.
