damn, i needed to set a symlink on the server, should work now! i need to

guess you're talking about CRAN R mirrors? those can't replace the one above, 
because that is our own repo, those packages are not available on CRAN.

the thing is that for some reason the path R for OS X expects to find packages 
changes all the time. i started with "bin/macosx/leopard/contrib/x.y", then 
changed to "bin/macosx/contrib/x.y", and now we're at 
"bin/macosx/contrib/mavericks/x.y", but *only* for packages build for R >= 
3.*. at the same time, linux always used the source packages from 
"src/contrib", and even all windows versions looked for its binary packages 
always at "bin/windows/contrib/x.y".
