Can be done very easily, and so I have done this now, for everybody to
try out. However, I am actually not too convinced of the result. With
active, inactive, hovered, invalid, we already have a whole bunch of
different colors for the rows, and adding to this does not seem to help
clarity, IMO. Esp. as the typical optionset does not seem to contain
more than a handful of items.

But look for yourself.
