I have created and uploaded a backport for sarge a few minutes ago. You can 
download it from SourceForge in the usual way, or use this 
in /etc/apt/sources.list:

# backports of the most recent releases to debian stable (currently i386 only)
deb http://rkward.sourceforge.net/debian sarge/
