For those who haven't read the R-Newsletter Volume 6/4, October 2006 
(http://cran.r-project.org/doc/Rnews/Rnews_2006-4.pdf) it's maybe worth to do 
so. It covers the odfWeave package which is about the Open Document Format. 
In my humble opinion might help to achieve fast the goal to interact with 
Office Suits like KOffice or OpenOffice.org based products.
