Or KAccounts is working so badly that people don't even get to try components that rely on having an account set up there (can't use telepathy if accounts can't be set up).

Looks like KAccounts is allergic to some newer system libraries, affecting at least (from who is commenting on that bug) Fedora, Kubuntu and OpenMandriva.
We didn't get around to debugging this yet (it's in the queue, but not super high priority, hope kopete keeps working for a little longer even if it's 4.x based).
