At least application-version and underlying-platform-version might (or might 
not) differ. the "KDE Platform" will end with 4.x, after that, we'll start 
releasing KDE Frameworks, which is the successor to the development platform 
a.k.a. kdelibs++. The new naming is to reflect the increased modularity and 
decreased interdependence.
