Good news.
I fixed the the silent KOrganizer killer bug; it turned out that in Qt4.6
you must initialize a scene rectangle when constructing a QGraphicsScene
or later trying to access the QGraphicsScene rectangle causes all sorts of problems.
This is apparently a behavior change with Qt 4.6.

So I feel much better actually being able to run KOrganizer again.

DBus stuff works too -- apologies to all those I pissed-off.
