the problem is now resolved; the changes were reverted. the libkipi team has 
learned a few new things about kde core module policies, and were actually 
very open and happy to make the adjustments.

i'm really impressed with how some of the project areas in kde have just 
blossomed with understading, intelligent ad sensible people (edu, games, 
graphics in particular)
