And those are tested, better tested than 3.5 branch anyway, I assume?

The strings part would be up to the translations teams to decide.

BTW, it's not a surprise that PIM is the most actively worked on part of 3.5, 
that's what matters most to enterprise  users, and those also happen to be the 
most conservative and slow when switching to KDE4.
