Hi,
Nice to have you willing to join :)
The right way is to simply choose something you want to work on, start hacking 
and join #rekonq on irc/freenode to ask whatever you want.
Then upload your patches to reviewboard.kde.org for review and submition. 
After a few commits you might apply for a kde-developer-account (if you don't 
have one already). Then you can submit patches yourself (which doesn't 
supersede the review process of course).
