[rekonq] help please

I recently downloaded and installed Kubuntu on this laptop that has 
Windows 7.  I really like the look and feel of this new operating system 
but I have a problem with the embedded browser Rekonq, it does not work 
period.

It opens but will not go on line. I have established that I have a 
connection on line.  Any idea what the problem could be.

I am not a geek and only downloaded Kubuntu out of curiosity
