How about making the toolbar configurable like any other KDE app?
Personally, I don't like the current position either. At least for me it would
be more natural if the bookmark menu button was on the same side as all the
other navigation-related buttons.
If the toolbar was configurable in typical KDE fashion, users could add/remove
it (depending on the future default) and move it around.

I always hated that behaviour since Konqueror. Luckily the bookmark manager
allows to set a "Bookmark Toolbar" folder, but that's not KDE Bookmark
Manager's default.
