Perhaps it's better to use QGraphicsView in Qt than Plasma libs from kdelibs, 
Plasma libs are the best solution for a desktop and different applets, 
modularity, etc...

Plasma uses QGraphicsView but plasma libs are more complex than QGV , it's not 
needed a desktop in the homepage, only some previews and smooth animations. 
That's what i think...
