Nice, I like this much better. Blurring and darkening the background when the controls are shown solves the legibility problem for the Switch User button and the default avatar picture, nice! And the drop shadow around the Clock hugely improves legibility there too.

  Some comments:

  - If you have a slideshow background, it continues to change the blurry background when the controls are visible. This feels a bit odd.
  - Once the controls are visible, I feel like it shouldn't transition back to the first view so quickly, if at all. That'll frustrate some people for sure.
  - I feel like the Clock should be a bit bigger in the initial view, before the rest of the controls have appeared. When it's the only thing on the screen, it seems a bit small. Maybe it could start out larger, then animate to its current size once the rest of the controls become visible. That might be an nice effect.
  - Though the legibility for the Clock is better with a shadow, it still struggles against some very light and/or busy backgrounds: F5791449: Challenging background 1.png <https://phabricator.kde.org/F5791449> F5791451: Challenging background 4.png <https://phabricator.kde.org/F5791451> F5791458: Challenging background 5.png <https://phabricator.kde.org/F5791458> F5791452: Challenging background 7.png <https://phabricator.kde.org/F5791452> I think making the clock bigger could help here, and also making the shadow bigger could do the same.
