I have to test this more, indeed probably won't work.
I am not sure that would be really workable out of the box, but if the color scheme (name?hash of the actual colors?) is inserted in the pixmap cache key, then it should work (having a setter/getter for a custom color scheme in kiconloader could even work for applications that use light and dark color schemes at the same time in different places, provided they have different instance of kiconloader and load directly with kiconloader the icons in the areas that are using a different color scheme than the system wide one)
