This should be achievable by just unsetting the slide effect after the window 
is shown (or before it gets closed). Then it's not animated by the slide 
effect.

If you need that: just add the struts to the offset. Easy enough.

That's the one aspect which isn't achievable with the current approach and 
that's the thing I think should be morphed into an effect. The appearing is 
completely different thing.
