It is probably old news to the more active contributors but I just came across 
this [1] while working through my huge FOSS mailinglist backlog,

Looks like GTK+ will finally have the capability to use the plaftform's file 
dialogs!

Looking forward to having the KDE dialog when using Gimp or Inkscape :)
