-1. Ctrl-Space is a common shortcut for  (and I think default in some) input 
method editors like scim, ibus and fcitx IIRC. This could break setups for 
non-Latin languages.

Not that I know.

In 4.x there's also the "type on desktop and krunner appears" mode. Not sure 
how much it's used.
