or even if PM never kicks in. people do still use desktop computers :)

yes and no. it sort of works, but a number of things aren't quite working
right:
* no ability to move widgets (even in config mode)
* the QML based Add Widgets UI moves items around visibly outside the area of
its UI. this is the "coming in" and "going out" animations in the Add Widgets
UI (which could be nicer as fade in/out anyways?), and it just doesn't work
here
the config mode could also use some help in general, sth i've been thinking
about. i don't have a concrete solution suggestion yet, but i'm getting near
some ideas that i'll share once they are more fully realized.
