separate email for a separate topic: frameworks and the workspace definition.
:)

Solid is not part of the workspace. neither is libplasma. they are frameworks
that can and are used by applications that are not part of the workspace and
function outside of our workspace environments just fine.

plasma-desktop, krunner, kwin, plasma networkmanager, kmix, bluedevil etc etc
are (or could be) part of the workspace. they are application and use both of
these frameworks.

libplasmagenericshell, libplasmaclock, libkworkspace, libtaskmanager .. these
are all parts of the workspace as well, though they are essentially
implementation details. unlike Solid or libplasma, they do not make sense
outside of the plasma workspace and are exclusively designed for and used by
workspace components.
