There likely has to remain a way for users to disable random effects.
Eg. the screenshot effect is nice and you want to use it, unless VBOs are  
broken on your HW and you shot the big black void or crash kwin everytime  
you try.
Sure, that's a driver bug, but the user will hardly care and mostly be  
interested in making screenshots (so this particular one would have to be  
eg. configurable from ksnapshot - which so far has no config dialog)

This may not hold for all helper effects, but i guess you get the point.
Therefore i'd suggest to keep sth. like the current list in some less  
prominent place?
(can even be a much more simple unsorted list- or treeview with a hint  
that this is for use on developers advice or so)
