trying to explain "switch" versus "replace" will not be possible in any sort
of successful manner. it's too much of a detail, and it will only get 'worse'
as more things integrate with activities.
"i only want to switch my apps, but not my power management settings."
if this is indeed a problem that needs solving, then we probably need to step
back and look at the bigger picture.
SLC is one part of the solution (for apps), and there may be a use case for
"connect all apps to activity <foo>" which may be able to be implemented in
SLC in some way. SLC itself needs more love and attention in general.
as for customizing what happens in a newly created activity, that sounds a lot
like a powertweak type tool which would probably remain outside the scope of
the standard UX and be something that those who want to really get down to
twisting knobs and pulling levers can launch and use.
