problem in logging out

if you can't find a way around it, either restarting kdm (/etc/init.d/xdm 
restart) will do, or killing X (ctrl + alt + backspace twice).

That's the axe method, it'll work but isn't beautiful and might cause data 
loss. Close all apps first if you go this way.
