i was "a bitch" because i don't think it is too much to ask that we come to 
these kinds of discussion with informed ideas and opinion. we are in an era in 
f/oss where lazilly offered (e.g. no actual research) and therefore low-value 
input is offered all the time from people who expect that input to be taken 
seriously and all too often get pissy when it isn't ("the developers don't 
listen!"). i'm not particularly motivated to make a cozy home for it here. 

others in the thread differed from my suggetions as well and that went just 
fine, so it's plainly demonstrable that it wasn't because someone "dared to 
differ" with me even just by looking at this thread. being accused of purile, 
shallow behaviour that i am not engaging in gets very tiring, very quickly.

i may be harsh from time to time, but i try (pretty successfully) to stay away 
from purile and shallow.
